Augmented · 4 fingerings for trichordo (D–A–D)

Notes and intervals

E♭aug (E♭ augmented) is built from E♭ G B: intervals 1 3 ♯5.

Fingerings on D-A-D

Frets, low D · A · high D

  1. Root position: 1-2-5 (E♭ B G)
  2. 1st inversion: 5-2-1 (G B E♭)
  3. 1st inversion: 5-6-9 (G E♭ B)
  4. 2nd inversion: 9-6-5 (B E♭ G)

Neither open course (D or A) is a chord tone, so every shape is fully fretted.

In the dromoi

None of the dromoi on this site lists E♭aug among its chords, so it is shown here as a shape reference.

Trichordo (D-A-D) and tetrachordo (C-F-A-D)

These shapes are for the three-course trichordo. A tetrachordo’s A and D courses are tuned the same, so the top two notes stay put and the low-D bass note moves two frets up the C course. The first shape, 1-2-5 on trichordo, becomes C 3, A 2, D 5 on tetrachordo, with the F course left out.
